The tooth decays, which form as a result of sleeping at nights while drinking breast milk, or drinking milk or some other liquids from baby’s bottle, are called as Baby Bottle Tooth Decay.
When the decays are advanced, they are cured by lulling the baby.
It may start as discolorations at the tooth-gingiva combinations of the upper anterior milk teeth, and may progress until it becomes a decay which spread out the entire tooth. If it is not cured, the teeth would decay completely, and the tooth roots remain within the jawbone.
The baby should not be left to sleep with baby bottle.
After drinking milk with baby bottle, the baby should be provided to drink water absolutely.
The teeth should be cleaned with soaked muslin rolled to the forefinger.
The night feeding should be quitted after the age of one.
The baby should be taken to the dentist for inspection periodically, beginning from the age of one.
A diet, which consists of vegetables, fruits, and fibrous foods, should be preferred instead of a diet which consists of carbohydrates which got stuck on the teeth.
Since the swallowing reflex may not be controlled until the age of 2-3, the teeth should be brushed two times a day by one of the parents with a brush, having a small head and soft bristles, using a toothpaste which does not contain fluoride.
