Considerations After Dental Filling

Hello, dear patient. You have had a dental filling at our hospital. First of all, we wish you a speedy recovery. Now, we would like to inform you about what you should pay attention to after your treatment. If you follow these recommendations, we would like to remind you that your recovery will be faster and more comfortable.

Filling Aftercare Instructions

  1. You should not eat or drink anything until the numbness has completely worn off.
  2. After the filling procedure, you should avoid actions that apply excessive force to the tooth, such as cracking nuts like hazelnuts or pistachios, or trying to open bottle caps with your teeth.
  3. Depending on the depth of the filling, you may experience sensitivity in your tooth after the procedure. In such cases, you may use a pain reliever. If the sensitivity increases over time, please contact us as soon as possible.
  4. You may feel pain in the gum area where anesthesia was applied. This discomfort usually resolves on its own within a few days.
  5. Once the filling has fully hardened, you may brush your teeth immediately. You can also use dental floss, an oral irrigator, interdental brushes, and mouthwash.
  6. If an amalgam (silver-metal) filling has been placed, you should not eat or drink anything for 2 hours. Since the filling takes 24 hours to fully harden, you should avoid consuming hard foods for one day.

We have explained in detail what you need to do after your treatment. We would like to remind you once again that we are always by your side for any questions or concerns.

As Hospitadent, we love making you smile.

Stay healthy.
